Organization

Surgeons in Action is a humanitarian, non-profit and independent Spanish foundation that comes after several experiences of collaboration in campaigns of Hernia International Foundation. These campaigns consisted of going to operate pathology of abdominal wall (hernias, hernias, etc..) for periods of one to two weeks in Nigeria and Ecuador. After these experiences, in 2011, a group of seven surgeons and two anesthesiologists decided to create his own foundation for surgical projects in emerging and developing countries.

The patrons of the Foundation are:

President: Teresa Butrón Vila (Consultant surgeon of the General Surgery Department.  12 de Octubre University Hospital, Madrid).

Vicepresident: José Antonio Pascual Montero (Chief of Surgery. CEMTRO Hospital , Madrid).

Secretary: David Fernández Luengas (Associated Chief of Surgery. Quironsalud Madrid University Hospital. Madrid).

Member: Faustino Santisteban, representing CURPSAP S.L.

Member: Beatriz Revuelta Alonso (Associated Chief, Pediatric Anestesiology. University Hospital. León).

Member: César Ramírez Plaza (Chief of Surgery. Hospital Quironsalud Málaga. President of Bisturí Solidario Foundation).

Member: Miguel López Vizcayno (Anesthesiologist, San Carlos Clinic Hospital Madrid).

Member:  Carmen Barroso Barrero. Economist.

Objectives

To promote, among other things, surgical campaigns in countries and deprived areas, to make prevention campaigns and health education,as well as promoting the study, teaching, research and prevention, treatment and cure of surgical disease not only among professionals but also among patients requiring it.
